CAS challenge

Another great CAS challenge over at SCS this week!  We were to use pink, celery and white - so classy!  Naturally, I used the new Wild Rose set from Paper and Such.  I distressed a piece of DSP by wrinkling it up and then flattening it as best as I could.  The image was then stamped on and I only colored the flowers to make them pop.

Paper and Such Challenge Time

For the Paper and Such challenge this week, we're teaming up with The Ribbon Carousel and asking you to make a non-traditional holiday card.  I chose to do a Valentine's card for my sweetie and I used something that has been haunting him for years..........a buck!!!!!  Every year during hunting season, he goes out in search of that elusive animal (read takes his gun for a loooong walk).  So, this year I decided to get him one of his own.  Ain't I a stinker?!

You can win.......

RIbbon Carousel challenge

I recently came to know about the The Ribbon Carousel and their great challenges thru my friend, Kim.  This week, they are hosting a sketch challenge - love those!  I was playing around with an older Thomas Kincade stamp and tried my hand at using my pastels on one for the first time.  I normally keep these images plain for fear of totally messing them up, but I have to say that I'm quite pleased with the results.  Thanks for looking!

The right sketch at the right time!

The other day I received a baby shower invite for my DH's niece.  Since then, I've been stressing about how I wanted to make the card.  It's just a baby card - how hard can it be, right???  WRONG!  Back in the fall, she announced that she's having QUADS!!!!!!  Now you see my dilemma.  Can you imagine having 4 babies!  God love her and her DH, they are thrilled.  3 sweet girls and 1 precious boy are coming in the next few months.  They have a 3 year old girl who will be a wonderful big sister.

Ok, onto my quandary - how to make this card for quads.  I knew what image I wanted to use, but no idea how to go about making a great layout - until this am when I checked my Facebook home page and there it was!!!!  Card Positioning Sketches had EXACTLY what I wanted!  THANK YOU!!!!!

And here is my finished result....... *drum roll please*

Card details:
Stamps - Rhubarb (Sweet N Sassy Stamps), sent. from Butter (Paper and Such)
Cardstock - SU, PTI, dsp

Sweet N Sassy challenge

Wow - it's been almost a whole week of steady posting!  Finally getting back into the groove of things!  I love checking out what Korin and Sweet N Sassy have for their digi challenges and today's was a fun one.  We had to use a number on our cards (I printed out my own sentiment), 2 different types of embossing (dsp is done in Swiss Dots) and 3 colors.  I'm quite pleased with how this card turned out.  Thanks for taking the time to stop by!

Snowy Birthday

I've combined two challenges over at Splitcoast for today's card.  First up, I used the Ways to Use it Challenge which was to create a birthday card for the host, Michelle, using our favorite things.  Well.......based on the picture below, can you guess what one of my favorite things is???

And that's only a small portion of the snowmen that I have in my house right now!  So, it should be no surprise that my card turned out like this.....

I also incorporated the sketch challenge from Splitcoast for this week too.

Musing over Mailboxes

Like you, I've seen many an altered mailbox all over the stamping sites.  I've scoured local Target stores in vain........until this past weekend!!!  I think my DH is now convinced I'm nuts when I let out a little squeek when I finally came across them.

I pondered for a few days over what I should do with it, now that I hand it in my mitts.  Paper and Such is coming out with an adorable little Valentine's set called Bitty Love and *lightbulb moment* that was it!  Now which image.............  Again, I wanted to do something different, so I chose the rock, but.......I didn't just want any plain old coloring.  More pondering and it hit me!  Polished Stone technique!  HA!

Now I will admit that it didn't turn out quite as good as I saw it in my head, but for my first one, I think I did pretty darn good!  I would love to hear your comments and maybe have you link ones that you've created.

More Wild Roses

I just LOVE this new Wild Rose set from Paper and Such - available on the 9th.  Below is a card done with the 2-step stamping technique.  I chose SU's Melon Mambo ink, stamped "off" on scrap paper first and then on my cardstock.  I overlapped that with the main image in black and just colored in the leaves.  VOILA - easy card!  I took my inspiration this time around from the current Featured Stamper gallery over at SCS.

Cardstock - SU, BG
